Where laughter rules (April Fool’s Day)
The featured image that complements my poem was skillfully created by Andrii Iemelianenko (Андрій Ємельяненко) of E-Furor Production in Lviv, Ukraine. I am grateful for his contribution.
My poem:
The sun peeks out with playful grin,
a day for mischief to begin.
False spiders on the teacher’s chair,
a startled shriek fills all the air!
A pinch of salt in sugar’s place,
a twisted smile on every face.
With backwards clothes and inside jokes,
we turn the world with merry pokes,
and upside-down, the books we’ll find,
it’s April’s day to warp the mind!
The birds tweet silly, backwards songs,
and squirrels chase cats where they belong.
Fake spilled milk, a painted chair,
laughter echoes everywhere,
balloon-filled rooms, a joyous sight,
the playful day melts into night.
And just when sleep begins its creep,
a cuckoo clock shouts, “No time to sleep!”
So let the laughter shake the walls,
the silliest day, it always calls!
The world’s confused, turned on its head,
a day for tricks, like magic spread,
but as the sun dips down so low,
the April madness starts to slow…
Until next year, the pranks will wait,
sweet dreams tonight, it’s getting late!
But when the April sun does rise,
we’ll paint the world with fun surprise!
With playful heart and joyous gleam,
an April Fool’s, the finest dream!

Along with being engaging, in part due to structure, there is quite a specific list of pranks in terms of content. I’ll have to go to this verse of yours in time for next year. I hope you had a good First and have been having a good Second today.

I am really glad you like it! Should I remind you of it next year? 🙂
I hope you’re having a good April!

My April has been all right, thanks. Yes, by all means, remind me next year!
